Another year of rodeo has galloped on by and with it came several standout performances in the state's biggest event for high school competitors. More than a dozen Wise County cowboys and cowgirls qualified for the Texas High School Rodeo Association's state championships last weekend in Abilene.

Greever steps down after successful run
Wise County has lost several successful coaches in recent weeks. Boyd girls basketball coach Arnold Parker left for Northwest after nine regional appearances, and Alvord coach Curtis Enis was reassigned last week after winning two state championships in cross country as well as turning the basketball and track programs into state powers.

Youth Camps
Decatur coach Claire Rose has set this year's Lady Eagle Volleyball camp for June 16-20 at the high school. The camp for girls who have are beginning grades 3-6 will run from 8-11 a.m., and for those who are beginning grades 7-9 will run from noon-3 p.m. For more information, call Rose at (214) 418-6678.

Alvord coach reassigned
Alvord ISD, in a surprise move last week, reassigned longtime girls coach Curtis Enis. The decision was announced after school was released last Friday when his three coaching positions were posted on a coaching Web site on graduation day.

The 2008 Decatur Eagles football camp hosted by coach Kyle Story and his staff has been scheduled for June 16-19 at Eagle Stadium. The camp is open to all boys entering grades 3-6 and will will be held each day from 7-9 p.m.
