Parker inks with Tarleton

Tarleton women's basketball coach Ronnie Hearne has announced the signing of Boyd High School star basketball player Lisa Parker to a national letter-of-intent to play for the TexAnns in the fall.

Parker, a 5-foot-7 point guard, was a first-team all-region and all-district selection as a senior and was named the District 10-2A MVP. She also led the Lady Yellowjackets to the regional tournament twice.

This season, Parker averaged 11.4 points per game while shooting 39.7 percent from the field. She averaged 5.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds and had a total of 188 steals.

In all four years, Parker was a first team all-district honoree three times, an All-Wise County honoree three times and an all-region honoree twice.

As a junior, she was named the district and Wise County Offensive Player of the Year and was named second team all-district as a freshman.

"Lisa is a true point guard who has been in a very successful program at Boyd High School," Hearne said. "She played for her dad, so she knows what is expected from her coach. Lisa is an outstanding student and will represent the TexAnns and Tarleton State in a very positive way."

Lisa is the daughter of Arnold and Linda Parker of Boyd.
