Spots still open on swim team
The Decatur AquaRACERS Swim team will continue accepting new members until May 5. Tryouts will be held each Monday at 4:50 p.m. Swimmers should arrive no later than this time to fill out paperwork and be ready to get in the water promptly at 5 p.m.
Volleyball league play starts in May
The first North Texas Volleyball Showdown spring league is still taking registration for the upcoming league. Games will be played every Friday in May in Decatur and a season-ending tournament will be held May 31. There will be varsity and junior varsity leagues, and each team must have at least seven players and a coach or manager. T-shirts will be provided for all teams and there will be awards for most valuable player, hitter, setter, server and defensive player. Paradise memorial scholarship created
A scholarship has been established at Paradise High School to be given to a graduating senior in 2008 in memory of Ryan Lowe, a Paradise student/athlete who was killed in an accident Aug. 4. Anyone who wishes to donate can call Laura Hodges at (940) 210-9470.
