The Alvord Bulldogs continued their domination of the Chico Dragons Friday with a 42-6 victory at Dragon Stadium. Chico has not defeated Alvord since 1999.
Dragon fans had reason to hope in the first quarter when quarterback Roger Moore hit Nolan Eubanks on a four yard touchdown pass for the first score of the game. The touchdown was the end of a 56 yard opening drive that took almost five-minutes off the scoreboard clock.
But after that glimmer of hope, the reality of Alvord quarterback Brendon Dane and his talented running backs and receivers sank the Dragon spirits quickly.
Dane scored three touchdowns on runs of 15, 9 and 9 yards and completed a 49-yard touchdown pass to Kendall Nivens. Alvord kicker Bill Vaughan was perfect on every extra point.
Alvord running backs Shane Watkins and Isaac Teran also added touchdown runs as the Bulldogs dominated scoring throughout the game, racking up 411 total yards, almost double the 222 yards for the Dragons.
The victory boosts Alvord's district standing to 2-2 and 3-4 for the season while the Dragons fell to 0-4 in district and 0-6 for the season.
Next week, Alvord hosts Henrietta while Chico travels to Wichita Falls to play City View.
